About YPLS

Making the decision to study abroad is a big step for your family. Will you be happy? Are the teachers experts at their job? Is the community safe and supportive?

When you choose Young People’s Language School (YPLS), you can confidently say, “Yes!”

Young international students come to YPLS to improve their English before going to high school or university in Canada. They learn at their own pace in a friendly and welcoming environment with students their own age.

Our teachers are experts at teaching young people English as a Second Language. They have a wealth of knowledge and experience in teaching high school and in developing curriculum for English language learners.

YPLS is a part of the Ottawa-Carleton Education Network, a non-profit organization connected to the public school board. It has close links to the board’s high schools, so YPLS students will meet and make friends with local Canadian students during their time here.

Students who come to YPLS will be well prepared to enter any school board across the country. They will:

• improve their English in a friendly environment
• learn the academic skills and vocabulary needed to succeed at school
• meet other international students and Canadian students
• learn about Canada and Canadian culture before starting high school or university
• develop social skills to get along in Canada
• enjoy after-school recreation, sports and touring

Finally, Ottawa is a beautiful international city – the capital city of Canada. We welcome diplomats and visitors from all over the world. YPLS students will feel at home in our multicultural community.
