Getting Around

  Buses in Ottawa

Ottawa has an excellent bus system called OC Transpo and a limited light rail system called the O-Train that makes getting around Ottawa quite easy. The best option for students is to purchase a monthly student pass. This includes a photograph for identification.

You can also purchase bus tickets or pay by cash. If you pay by cash, you must have the exact amount of money because bus drivers cannot give change. Using bus tickets is cheaper than using cash. The price of taking an express bus or regular bus is different.

  Bicycling and Inline Skating

Ottawa has hundreds of kilometres of bike paths which make biking an easy and enjoyable way to get around. It is easy to buy a new or used bike. The cost of a used bike is about $100, and new bikes can be purchased from about $200 and up. In Ontario, bicycle helmets must be worn by all cyclists who are under the age of 18. A bicycle helmet costs about $20.00.
